Here is my latest clock I bought on eBay, 2/25/2009. It is German and is called a Wag-On-Wall clock. It is easy to see why, the pendulum hangs below the clock and wags like a dogs tail. The face is hand painted enamel on wood. The movement is all brass with wood supports. All teh bushings are wood. The clock didn't come with weights or pendulum. The ones shown are from the OG clock. So I need to size the length of the pendulum to get the correct time. It is supposed to be pretty long though, like two feet. I'm looking for a pair of original weights on eBay. It strikes the bell on the half hour once and the time on the hour. I couldn't believe it but when I put the weights and pendulum on it, it ran fine. It did stop after about ten minutes of running. But it needs to be cleaned, to reduce friction, and I think the original weights were heavier. The chain seems to be original as does everything else with the clock.
The top brass piece in the front view below is an adjustment for the escapement, which is right behind it. I still need to figure out what the horizontal brass piece just above the gear is for. The hands look like they were hand made of thick brass.
Below are the two side covers, the hands and thing at the center. It is suppose to be a timer, I think. You turn it by hand and put the minute or hour hand on top of the number of minutes or hours you want to time. Then the time is up when the minute or hour hand gets to the 12 I guess.
The following pictures show details of the face. There apparently was a vertical crack in the wood that someone repaired at one time.
