My 1958 MGA restoration
MGA main body rotisserie
Dave Rosato, Yonges Island, SC
I posted this MGA main body rotisserie on the NAMGAR website and Facebook.  There was enough interest for me to put this webpage together.

To make working on the MGA body easier, I made a simple rotisserie for it.  This is for the main body AFTER removing it from the frame.  The main body isn't really very heavy, easily lifted by two people.  Below is a picture of the two parts sitting in the rafters of my garage.  You can see that they are very simple.
Here is the body being supported by the rotisserie.  You can see it at the front of the body being supported by a saw horse.  Two braces of each side are bolted to the body using the bolts and locations for the fenders.
Here are dimensions of the rotisserie.  All the metal was bought at Lowes.
I cut the 1"x1" square steel tubing to 40".  At the center I then drilled a half in diameter hole in it  I then slide the 10" steel rod into the hole and welded it in place.

I then cut the 1.5"x1/8" steel bars to roughly 14 inches long.  I drilled holes in them at the end and bolted them to the fender locations.  I crossed the steel bars and welded them to the ends of the 1"x1" square tubing.

I happened to hit the center of gravity pretty good because it spun easy and didn't want to go back to one rotation.
Here is a picture of the body when we were putting it back onto the frame.  I include this picture because it shows the braces that are needed across the door openings.  If you don't do this I think the body may fold in half.
