Kitchen renovation
1/17/2017 - I started tearing some walls down a week ago or so. I'm moving the fridge first. There is a 3" drain line that I decided to move. You ca see it in the picture below. After tearing down some walls I also found a hot and cold water line that has to move. Here is where the fridge is going to go. The left picture is looking from the litchen and the right from inside the laundry room. The cabinets have all been ordered as have the two new windows. We have in-house all the new lighting and the new ironing board.
1/26/2017 Took down the cabinets between the kitchen and dining room.
2-1-2017 I took the sheetrock on the dining room side down the other day. Then yesterday I did the plumbing. A 3" drain line and hot and cold water lines had to be moved. Unfortunately, had one very small leak, one drip every 15 seconds. Right now a bucket it collecting it until I get motivated to drain the house again and fix it.
Today I've been working on te walls around the fridge. One of the walls I have to move is load bearing so I'm taking my time with it. The wall between the kitchen and dining room is also load bearing, the one in the picture below. So I have to temporarily support the joists above then insert a double 12" wood beam.
We found out today that the cabinets should be delivered between Feb 10-16. And the two new windows should be in the week of Feb 13. And the windows have to be in before I start the cabinets.
2/3/2017 I put up the double beam replacing the load bearing wall where the fridge is going.
2/5/2017 My neighbor Steve came over to help put up the beam between the dining room and the kitchen. I had already put up temporary 2x4's next to the wall to remove the load from the wall. Between the two of us we got the beam up and took down the temporary support. And the upstairs floor didn't end up in the kitchen!! Yeah!
2/13/2017 The kitchen is pretty much totally demo'ed. Just have the sink in the right corner and the pantry in the back left corner. There are AC lines right where the window behind the sink is going. The AC guy is coming today to see about moving them. You can see the floor is up, we filled the trailer twice yesterday. I made the boxes to support the columns.
We found the corbels shown below at an antique shop in Florida. They are going up against the ceiling above the columns.
