Kitchen renovation (continued)
2/21/2017 Last Thursday the cabinets were delivered. I borrowed the neighbors trailer. We filled it twice moving them to the house from the end of the street.
Friday Lynn and I spent a good part of the day unpacking them and taking inventory.
Next I started taking out the old window and putting in the new one.
We took a couple loads of cardboard to the dump.
Next I started on the new beam, columns and corbles. I bought three pieces of 12'x5.5"x0.75 and we glued them together t make a beam going between the corbles. Lynn then painted the beam with a dark paint. The next day after it dried Lynn painted the beam with a glaze. An hour later she painted the beam with a cream topcoat. Shortly the topcoat started crackling.
Here the boxes are made on the bottom and top of the columns.
Here the corbles are in place.
2/27/2017 A little updatine. I took out the window on the side. It took a little inginuity.
Put the cedar around the window.
The beadboard came in. Lynn and I stained it in the garage. This is eucalyptus wood 8 feet long and about 3 inches wide. I had been looking for 4'x8' plywood sheets but the quality wasn't there. This turned out to be perfect. I bought a pneumatic brad nailer and ran an air line from the garage to the kitchen. It is taking some time but is so worth it.
With a lot fo help from Steve, we got the new side window in. The AC guys came and moved the AC lines running to the attic.
2-28-2017 As you can see I ran out of beadboard. I ordered another bundle from Home Depot. Will be here March 7th.
Move the hot and cold water lines, sheetrock, put the floor 3/8th inch underlayment down then the cabinets begin. Oh yah, I need to reside the house where the old windows were and around the new windows.
