12/7/2013 And down came the sheetrock on the wall that is coming down. Pulled out the half built fire place and the flue. That will eventually go in the corner you can see through the slider in the picture below.
SIX three-way switches need to be relocated!
12/13/2013 The steel beam and steel posts arrived. The beam weighs about 550 pounds. I think I'll need a little help to get that in the house!
12/14/2013 Well the steel posts are in the wall. Just need to get that beam in the house and sitting on top of them. The 12 feet by 9 feet French slider should arrive on Wednesday. Hopefully the driver will help me get the four panels into the house. The frame will be too big to get in the front door so I'll have to hoist it up over the deck.
12/17/2013 Teddy Corbin, neighbor and part owner of Metal Trades, offered to bring by his fork lift after seeing the beam that I was planning to carry into the house. We strapped it to this monster and he lifted it over the back deck and right into the bedroom. Boy was that easier than carrying it.
Here it is in the bedroom ready to go up. Notice that all the wiring is gone?
12/18/2013 The door was delivered. It didn't go in nearly as easy as the living room door did. I've been working on it for 7 hours and only have the frame in. The two fixed panels are in place but I'm having trouble getting them to lock in place. It's been a frustrating day.
12/19/2013 Another day of working on the door and the four panels are in. There are plastic pieces on the frame and matching ones on the fixed panels. They were hitting each other, not sliding by as they should have. I did a little grinding of them and they finally locked. Just have to put the hardware n now.
