1/31/2014 I decided to take the wall down. Took the slider out, the house didn't fall down.
Took a little more down, house is still standing!
Well I guess that massive steel beam is holding the house up.
View from the door from the living room. The picture doesn't do it justice. You can see the frame for the fireplace across the way. Have to do a little wiring, insulating, sheet rocking, exterior siding and cover the beam.
2/8/2014 The underside of what was the screen room is all wired and insulated. The AC/heating duct was moved to in front of the new slider. Another run to Lowes for insulation and plastic and the room is all insulated.
Yet another run to Lowes to get 12 foot sheet rock for the 9 foot walls. They don't sell 10 foot. Almost got the walls done. Tomorrow will be yet another run to Lowes to get a bunch of 4'x8' sheet rock for the ceiling. I've got a sheet rock lift reserved for Monday morning. That should be a big help to get it up there. I'll also use it to get the plywood up on the ceiling under the floor. Nice sunny day today but cool, 63.
I suggested to Lynn that we go for the industrial look and leave the ceiling and beam open. I'd hang an engine off the beam and power its fan for cooling. I'd also bring in the gas pump. I've got lots of cool car parts we could use to complete the picture. Lynn didn't like the idea.
2/9/2014 I moved the bed to where it is going to be. There will be a short wall behind the head board.
View from the fireplace.
View from inside the bathroom.
You can see the electrical outlet in the floor. There will be a small table with a lamp on it with a chair on each side. Lynns 42" TV will be on top of the fireplace.
2/10/2014 Rented a sheet rock lifter, was a huge help.
Got most of the other side ceiling done and the beam covered.
2/11/2014 Well all the sheet rock that needs the lift it up. The carpet is up too. While I have the lift I need to put up the plywood under the floor of the new part of the bedroom. I just have to say one more time, I HATE PHILIPS HEAD SCREWS!!! There are so many better types. You have to push while screwing or it will just round over. Nothing worse that screwing hundreds of screws pushing up. My shoulders are killing me.
